Long Vowel Sounds Worksheets

The vowel in the English alphabet has 2 sounds. They are Short Vowel Sound and the Long Vowel Sound. When you teach phonics, you would start teaching the sounds of consonants and vowels (short vowel sounds).

So, what is Long Vowel Sounds?  When the two vowels are walking beside each other in a word, the first vowel does talk and says its name while the second vowel remains silent.

For example, tea, read, train, coat, brain, bee, day, and so on.
